Aloha Friday

alohafriday.jpgIt’s Friday, which means that over at An Island Life it is time for Aloha Friday.

Our oldest daughter is getting to the point where a lot of her friends have begun losing teeth.  She’s always telling us that her teeth hurt, and got excited (after she cried) about smacking her face on the top of a slide, because she thought it knocked one of her teeth loose.

We aren’t big on telling our girls that pretend people, like fat, red, jolly men, are sneaking into our house in the middle of the night, and are even more cautious about telling them a fairy is going to actually come in their room while they’re sleeping.  But, we are planning on keeping the tradition of putting something under her pillow whether she knows it’s us or thinks it’s some sort of fairy.

What is the going rate for tooth fairy money?

I have no idea, I don’t even remember what it was when my kids were young.

My eldest hasn’t lost her baby teeth yet, but I think a dollar is appropriate. Though I have a girlfriend who does $10 a tooth and $20 a molar! Whew! At that rate my daughters could retire on the money they’d collect! LOL

We freaked out when Em knocked out her tooth at 2…Mark gave her a quarter. LOL – we just weren’t prepared. BUT I am going to opt out of the money thing and have the tooth fairy give them pretty polished rocks/gem. Cheap? Maybe, but I cannot compare to the $10 fairy. Besides, money they spend but they can keep their little rock collection. Just something different.

Don’t know yet, my oldest is 3. Maybe $1? But 4 quarters so she thinks she scored. ;-)

I would do Kong Balls if they wouldn’t get smooshed.

LOL ~ Gosh, I feel really old toady – so many questions for the “younger” chics today – ha! My kids are now 29 & 30, bu think we used to do a quarter? Except for when my daughter’s first tooth went down the drain in the sink, we did a whole dollare cuz we felt so sorry for her! Of course, then the tooth fairy had to compensate our son a little extra too!

When my girls were little, it was loose change for them. They loved it!

$5 for the first tooth and $1 for each subsequent tooth!

We haven’t reached this stage yet, but I think $1 is about right. I do really like Sarah’s idea of polished rocks/gems though.

My oldest has already lost 2 teeth, and she’s not even 5! We give her what my parents did for my sister and I: a quarter, a dime, a nickel, and a penny. It’s not much, but the different coins really intrigue her. Plus, it’s a good money-teaching moment.

I really like the one of each coin idea. I was going to do a dollar, since Madelynn is working on losing two teeth right now and I have to start thinking about that. But, I think I’ll do the coins.

LOL! I remember getting a dime. My daughter is only 5, but I was thinking a $1 probably.
