This is a great activity that I used to do with my 1st graders all the time. I called it C.O.P.S It stands for capitalization, omission, punctuation, and spelling. Here’s how it works.
I write 4 or 5 sentences that need to be corrected. I haven’t started omitting words yet for Ashlyn but I think she is ready for me to. I underline the words that need to be fixed to make it easier for her and she has to correct them. After doing this a few times, I don’t have to underline the incorrect words for her.
This is an easy way to review spelling words, sight words, punctuation marks, and when to use capital letters.
