My first grader has to memorize a Bible verse each week for school. I love this but my first thought was, where am I going to put all the verses she has memorized! I decided to buy a small photo album and some index cards. It is easy for her to flip through to review her verses and it’s much more durable than a bunch of index cards on a ring.
Then I got to thinking of all the other things I could use them for. Here is my list so far:
- sight words
- letter or number identification
- colors
- names of students in my class with their pictures
- mini class books
- shapes
The list goes on and on. Sorry the first picture is so bad. The stickers spell out Memory Verses.

Thank you for sharing this! My husband has to memorize something like 60 ‘key’ Bible Verses for his Seminary studies (of course they are longer than this!) and I was trying to figure out what to do with them! I had typed them up nicely and even added clip art (to job the memory) but my idea of hanging them in a frame (one at a time) in our living room evaporated when I realized I didn’t have a good place to hang it. This will definitely work and I’m excited to see his response when he comes home today.
I recently found your blog through someone else’s blog roll and I’m excited to see the ideas you share. I’m a teacher too – though of adults – and coming up with things appropriate for my 5-year-old twins is something I sometimes struggle with.
Thanks again,

This is a great list of ideas. I have a stash of albums I found in a closet recently.
August 18th, 2010 at 8:28 amgreat idea! You will love hearing her say the verses every week… I recommend having her repeat the ones she has learned a few more times throughout the year so she doesn’t forget them as she moves on to new verses.
August 21st, 2010 at 10:28 pmI love you! You are so good at this stuff…I was thinking the same thing. What should I do with all these verses. Great idea. Any other ideas for helping them memorize them? So far I’ve cut it into individual words and have her put the verse together. I know you have some other ideas, so share them please
!
