We started our Winter theme this week by reading The Mitten. It’s hard to talk about winter when it’s 78 degrees here in sunny Florida but I’m not complaining. After reading the book we did a creative writing assignment that I found here. They had to think of a different kind of animal to crawl into the mitten and tell why they did. Then I had them use our How to Draw Animals book to draw their animal. They chose a piece of scrapbook paper to cut out a mitten design from and then added cotton. I stapled the bottom of the mitten and left the top open so they could see their animal underneath.

I also like the drawing book you posted about. I’d like to get that for my little boy when he is able to draw better.
