We ended our Winter unit learning about Penguins. These guys are so fun to study and my girls loved reading about them. I read them The National Geographic for Kids book on Penguins. They have great facts and pictures. I told them before reading it that I wanted them to be listening for 3 facts that they didn’t know before. My girls do better when I tell them ahead of time what I want them to be listening for. After reading the book they had to write down their 3 facts and share them. Did you know that God created penguins with sharps barbs in their mouths in order to be able to hold onto slippery fish. Amazing!
Then they made their own penguins. I gave them some books with pictures and some different colored construction paper and they got to work. They made an Emperor Penguin, a Macaroni Penguin, and a Little Blue Penguin.
