Here are a few centers I have done with the girls in the last couple of weeks. I plan 5 centers each week for my girls to complete on their own by Thursday. Fridays they go to school for an enrichment day so I only home school them Monday through Thursday. I explain all 5 centers on Monday and then they can choose what centers they would like to do each day.
Math- My second grader had to complete this chart on fractions by putting them under the correct heading.

I forget where I printed this from. If anyone knows let me know.
Spelling- I put Scrabble tiles into a container and they had to spell their spelling words and then add up how many points each word equaled.

Pocket Chart- For Valentine’s Day my girls had to memorize 1 Corinthians 13:4 – 9. So I wrote it out on sentence strips and mixed it all up. They had to put in back in the correct order. I think I will start doing this more. It helped them memorize it.

Writing- I taught the girls about acrostic poems just in time for Valentine’s Day. Then found this great one for Friends online. I am really bad about remembering where I find things online but would love to give credit if anyone has seen it. Anyway, one day we brainstormed things that make great friends. then the girls each completed a poem. They turned out great!

Magazine- My girls get My Big Backyard and then read them right away but then seem to not pick them up again. I have been making simple little papers to get them interested in them again. They pick what magazine they want to read and what article. After they read it they complete the worksheet telling me what they learned about.

Themed Center- Since Valentine’s was last week i scooped out a handful of candy hearts and had them create a story using the hearts. If you still have some hearts hanging around these turned out so cute. This one is from a little girl I tutor. I got this idea here.
