Thu, 02 Feb 2012 01:44:45 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.1.3 Free Food…No Thanks! http://www.teachingtwo.com/2009/07/12/free-foodno-thanks/ http://www.teachingtwo.com/2009/07/12/free-foodno-thanks/#comments Mon, 13 Jul 2009 01:05:51 +0000 Anne free food limits desire laws chick dress stuff http://www.teachingtwo.com/2009/07/12/free-foodno-thanks/ My in laws called the other day asking if we wanted to dress up like cows and get free food at Chick- Fil -A.  ” Umm, no thanks but maybe the girls would!” I said.  I am all about getting free stuff, especially food, but I also have my limits.  Emily said she would rather stay home but Ashlyn (my shy one) wanted to go!  We spent that morning searching for black and white clothes to pin spots to.  We even drew black spots on her face.  She looked adorable!  They ended up going to two different restaurants to eat.  Here are some pictures of our cow family.

]]> http://www.teachingtwo.com/2009/07/12/free-foodno-thanks/feed/ 1 Camping In June http://www.teachingtwo.com/2009/06/14/camping-in-june/ http://www.teachingtwo.com/2009/06/14/camping-in-june/#comments Mon, 15 Jun 2009 03:23:20 +0000 Anne camping sleeping roots listening tent rocks trip loved http://www.teachingtwo.com/2009/06/14/camping-in-june/ Our family went on our first camping trip last Friday with some friends.  I’m not sure why we decided to do this in June while living in Florida but we did and overall it was lots of fun. The girls and husband loved sleeping in a tent outside, me…not so much.   Sleeping on roots and rocks while listening to animal noises all around me is not my idea of a good night sleep.  Not to mention the fact that our tent was close to a very active set of train tracks.  I counted at least 4 trains while I was “sleeping”.  All that to say it was something different to do as a family and we created many great memories together.

The girls had fun playing outside, making smores, and swimming in the springs.  They were great and have already told me they want to go again.  I promised my friends that I would try it one more time in the Fall before giving up on camping.

Now we are off to the Keys with some friends who rented a house right on the water.  We will be gone 5 days swimming, snorkeling, relaxing, and boating.  Now that is my kind of vacation.

The girl knows what she wants. 

So, I reserved a pavilion.  Then it started to rain.  It rained all week and the forecast called for rain on Saturday, the day of the party.  My husband & I decided to switch dates to the next Saturday to avoid any weather problems.  We called the park & e-mailed all the guests.  As it turned out only a few guests could come the next week, so we changed it back.  Afterall, as my husband said, “What are the chances of it raining at 10:00 in the morning?” I was so embarrased to call the park back I made my him do it.

Friday night, my friend Ame & I worked until 1:30am getting activities together just in case it rained.

When Saturday morning rolled around, it was bright & sunny outside.  We drove over to the park, set up all the decorations, dried off the playground equipment and got the grill ready for hot dogs.  Party time…10:00 and the guests start showing up.  Fifteen minutes later, we were in the storm of the century.  I guess the chances of it raining at 10:00 were pretty good.  Now we have nearly all the guests under a pavilion 100 yards from their cars, and lightning was literally striking at the park.  It was crazy!!! So much so I started to cry and I never cry.

I wanted to just call it quits and send everyone home, but my awesome friends had other ideas.  Several of them braved the storm, drove to my house, and had it cleaned before I got there.  We ended up doing most of the crafts & games from the comfort of my family room.  We have such a great community.

I did NOT leave my two year old on the potty for 30 minutes the other day because she refused to go poopy.  She would NOT cry for a little and then start to sing Angels We Have Heard on High at the top of her lungs.  Just to let you all know, she did finally go.I did NOT choose to watch The Office over a romantic Chick Flick for Valentine’s Day.  I am NOT obsessed with it and do NOT watch an episode (or 3) every night after putting the girls to bed. 

On Valentine’s Day I did NOT let my kids eat cake, candy, and chips non-stop from after lunch on.  I did NOT not feed my kids (and husband) dinner even after my 5 year old said, ” I didn’t know we could skip dinner!”  And then I did NOT tell her to eat a few more chips so she wouldn’t be hungry before she went to bed.  I would NEVER do that!

I did NOT tell a friend at my new kickboxing class that I had to leave early in order to give my kids a bath.  Then while walking out I did not see two 60 year old women barely sweating keeping up with the instructor and decide to stay.  I am much more in shaped than them. 

While talking to a friend he mentioned that he had never in 9 years seen the inside of my husband and I’s bedroom.  I did NOT lie to him and tell him it was because our dogs are always in there when people come over.  I do NOT throw all the unfolded laundry, extra toys, and anything else in there before friends come over.

I have Not stayed up until midnight each night this week playing the wii and trying desperately to beat my husband at bowling.  I have not gotten a little upset when during the day my 5 year old daughter ends up beating me in bowling also.  I am not that competitive!

When my 2 year old asked me what cookies make you, I did NOT tell her fat and then precede to eat 6 of them.  I did NOT tell her she was only allowed to eat 3 (after she watched me inhale mine) because they were not good for her.  I have way more self control than that.

I did NOT make my 5 year old wear a pair of dirty socks to school the other day .  I am NOT that behind on my laundry (because of the wii) .  That would be gross. 

I did NOT just burn the girls’ breakfast for the second time this week because I was trying to blog.  I would NEVER put my blog before them.

~  As my husband was putting our youngest (2) to bed the other night, I heard her tell him in her sweetest voice,  “Daddy, I love you but I don’t like you.”

 ~  We were driving home last night from my oldest daughter’s gymnastics class (5) and talking to the girls about what games we were going to play for our weekly game night.  Ashlyn shouted from the backseat “listen people, here is the plan.”  Such a little leader!

~  Here is some advice that I learned this week.  Never give your OCD child Days of the Week panties.  She will refuse to wear any other kind.

“Jesus, I love you and I like you.  And you know what?….gink you that we can see you in the Bible.”

It was so sweet and sincere.  I continue to learn so much from my girls.

~I do NOT pretend I can’t hear my daughter calling me at 2:00 in the morning to tell me she has to go to the bathroom.  And I do not act like I have no idea what my husband is talking about when he asks me about it the next day.

~I did not think about asking my husband to take me to The New Kids on the Block concert for our 10 year anniversary.

~I did not hear my 2 year old say (in a room full of people) “I don’t have to go to the bathroom Mommy.  It was just a poot.”
