Every year I have the girls write a list of things they want to do over the break.  I love doing this because I find out what is important to them.  I have been amazed each year at the simple things my girls love to do.  I never promise that we will get to them all but most years we have.  Here are the lists for this week:

      Ashlyn’s List

  • go swimming
  • have a date with Mommy
  • get ice cream at Bruster’s
  • make a bird’s nest
  • spend the night at Nana’s

Emily’s List

  • stay home and play Little People and with my Princess house
  • go swimming
  • play a lot with my sister
  • go over to Grandma’s house
  • go to Silver Springs (we are going tomorrow and have been talking about it with them.)

  • Go to a movie.
  • Go to the beach.
  • Go swimming at the YMCA.
  • Play with Elizabeth and Riley. (her friends in the neighborhood)
  • Play hide and go seek with Mommy and Daddy.
  • Go to a farm and feed the animals. (this one surprised me)
  • Go to the zoo. (we have passes and go all the time.  I guess she loves it!)
  • Play with Mommy, Daddy, and Emily (her sister)
  • Go to Disney. (my husband’s grandfather works here so we are able to go a couple times a year)
  • Go fishing with Daddy.

And here is her list from this year;

  • Go to the beach.
  • Go swimming at the Y.
  • Have a playdate with Ella. (her friend she doesn’t get to see very often)
  • Go fishing with Daddy.
  • Go on a bike ride.
  • Go get ice cream.
  • Go to the Science Center.
  • Play at Elizabeth’s house. (our neighbor)
  • Spend the night with Nana. (my Mom)
  • Go to the fair.

I thought these were great lists.  As a look over them I can tell that spending time with her family is what she wants most.  I wonder how long that will last!

]]> http://www.teachingtwo.com/2009/04/07/works-for-me-wednesday-spring-break/feed/ 2 Spring Break http://www.teachingtwo.com/2008/04/05/spring-break/ http://www.teachingtwo.com/2008/04/05/spring-break/#comments Sat, 05 Apr 2008 18:29:00 +0000 Anne spring break cram kingdom animal busy beach ymca http://www.teachingtwo.com/2008/04/05/spring-break/ I know I haven’t written in awhile and I wanted to apologize to my three readers for that.  So, Chris, Ame and Sheli… I’m sorry!  We have been so busy having fun on Spring Break.  This is how my week has looked so far; Magic Show and dinner at Wonderworks,  cook out for over 30 people at my house (so of course I spent all that day cleaning), Animal Kingdom, beach for two days,  movies, bike rides, YMCA working out and swimming, taking the girls to gymnastics and dance.

Whew!  I need a vacation. 

It’s been great but there is a part of me that craves routine and getting back to normal.   Yes, I actually enjoy waking up and doing just about the same thing every day.  I’m a planner and I like it that way.  I have at least 3 calendars and I use all 3.  I can be sporadic though too.  Like on Mondays, after Emily’s gymnastics class, sometimes we go straight home or sometimes we go to the zoo or a park.  Or on Wednesdays sometimes we check out books before story time and sometimes afterwards.  I know, crazy! 

My girls have come to love the routine and have really benefited from it in so many ways.  It’s how I survive.
