If you’ve never heard of the book Go Away Big Green Monster, it’s a cute one that your kids will ask you to read over and over again. We read it this past weekend and then I decided to have the girls make their own big green monsters.
- First we got black paper and the girls painted a green oval in the middle of it.
- Once it dried, they glued the different parts on the monsters face in order as I read the book.
- Then they got to name their monsters, Scary and LuLu.

Check out more great stART projects here.

I have never heard of this book either. What a nice activity it provided for your girls. They did an excellent job on their creation of the Monster.
Continue this type of activity with your girls. You are creating great memories for them.

May 19th, 2009 at 3:01 pmThese are great Big Green Monsters. We love this book at school. Our one teacher reads it at Halloween time and then brings in a pumpkin. She has all the pieces and the children help to make the pumpkin a Big Green Monster.

November 6th, 2009 at 2:18 pm[...] The story build’s a monster face by talking about the all the different features of the big green monster, so as I read the story the kids glued on each of the parts. The book’s pages provide great stencils for creating this craft. I found the idea at Teaching Two. [...]
